Warsaw – a magnificent residence of princes and kings

For more than 400 years Warsaw has been the capital of the lands, which today belong to the territory of Poland.

The centuries-old and eventful history of the city is reflected in its architecture. Here you can find gothic-style medieval buildings and neoclassical palaces, so-called "sleepy districts" of residential housing built in the USSR, and modern high-rise office centres.The main places of interest on the map of the Polish capital are concentrated in the Old Town. Popular places that tourists should see include the completely reconstructed Market Square and the main symbol of the city – the Warsaw siren located on it. Here in the square you can relax and have a snack in one of the many cafes with a view of the traditional buildings.To get a complete picture of the architectural sites of the capital, go on a tour around the numerous palaces of Warsaw. It is worth visiting the palaces of the great royal families of Chapa, Krasiński, Ostroh, Branicki, the Royal and Presidential Palace, as well as Lazenkovsky castle. The city guide will really help you plan your trip.In Warsaw you'll find an extensive network of public transport, which local residents and tourists use, along with underground trains, buses and trams. Important information for visitors will be that tickets are valid for all types of transport, meaning that there is no separation along lines and routes. You can buy a ticket in one of hundreds of cash desks, and directly from the driver.
